Medway NHS Foundation Trust - Kent - A Different View

We are lucky enough to be based in one of the most beautiful parts of the country – in the heart of the Kent ‘The Garden of England’, Over half of the unitary authority area is rural in nature.

With its super-fast links to London, Belgium and France some people speed straight through Kent. Those in-the-know appreciate there are a million reasons to slow down and explore.

Gillingham is well situated in terms of rail links with London (distance: 37 miles) and Ashford for the Eurostar (distance: 29 miles).

For beautiful cafes, bars and restaurants head over to the historic Rochester High Street where you’ll find plenty of delicious dishes, treats to indulge in and an evening of cocktail fun with friends.

For all your general amenities you will want to try the local High Streets in Gillingham or Chatham. If you’re looking for something a little more special you can head to Rochester High Street where you can find many independent fashion boutiques and beautiful antique stores.

You can also take a quick train or bus the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Greenhithe, Fremlin Walk in Maidstone or Whitefriars in the historic City of Canterbury, where you’ll find fabulous designer labels, beauty buys and much more.

A Norman castle and ancient cathedral high above the River Medway, winding lanes of old houses, bookshops and medieval walls. The Medway Valley houses Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester, Rainham and Strood (collectively known as Medway). These towns have really easy access to London via the M2 and high speed trains.

The pretty Dickensian town of Rochester is steeped in history and has been described as ‘ravishingly pretty’. Gillingham is a lively town with excellent transport links and is the retail heart of the district. At the heart of Medway is Chatham – a diverse maritime destination with a rich history stretching back more than 400 years. ‘Call The Midwife’ fan? Many of the scenes are filmed at the historic dockyard, which now has a visitors centre dedicated to the TV series!
