After all, it’s only through your valuable contribution that we can deliver effective healthcare to the local area.

A major contributor in the North West and beyond

We were awarded teaching hospitals status back in 2010 and merged in 2012 with the Community Health Services of the former NHS Blackpool and NHS North Lancashire.

Right now, we provide acute services to the 330,000-strong population of the Fylde Coast, as well as the estimated 11 million visitors to Blackpool each year. At the same time, we’re a provider of specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology services across the regional health economy catchment of Lancashire and South Cumbria. We also host the National Artificial Eye Service, which serves the whole of England.

More about the area

Although Blackpool is, of course, a famous seaside destination that attracts millions of visitors every year, you might be surprised at the breadth and variety of scenery on offer in this particular part of North-West England. They go way beyond the town itself and are part of what makes us such an attractive place to work. After all, you’re entitled to a life as a well as a job.

Rural communities, seaside resorts and affordable houses!

If you’re intending to relocate and thinking about somewhere to live, it might be that you’d consider Lytham St Anne’s, Poulton-le-Fylde, Stanley Park or Wrea Green. On the other hand, Staining, Garstang, Bispham and Cleveleys are also popular choices. For those who prefer to live in a town, Fleetwood is a great option, with its attractive Georgian properties and large shopping centre.

The cost of living – particularly in and around Blackpool itself – is relatively low and you will find plenty of accommodation available, ranging from flats to house shares. According to The Gazette – Blackpool’s local newspaper – a number of local schools were celebrating record GCSE results in 2018, an important consideration if you have kids going through the education system.

Best of all, housing is highly affordable

Culture and History

Voted Blackpool’s favourite attraction, the award-winning Stanley Park was opened nearly 100 years ago and has Grade II* status. Fully restored in 2007, following a £5 million investment from the Heritage Lottery Fund, its 390 acres offer a great opportunity for recreation, as well as a chance to explore impressive architecture, wildlife and landscape gardens.

The stretch of coastline between Lytham and Fleetwood offers a mixture of sand, shingle and wildlife habitats to explore. Whether you’re looking for sailing and beach huts, dunes or boating lakes, the local area is one of the most attractive in the UK. Explore the local rivers or perhaps pay a visit to the historic Royal Lytham & St Anne’s Golf Club, which has hosted the Open no fewer than 11 times. You’ll never lack for something to do.

Over the past decade, this music festival on the Ribble Estuary has attracted thousands of people from all over the UK. Artists who have graced the stage include Tom Jones, Faithless, Rita Ora and Michael Ball.

Travelling further afield
With the M55 nearby, linking to the M6, you are driving distance from the attractive Forest of Bowland and can head a little further north to the Yorkshire Dales. Alternatively, go south towards either Liverpool or Manchester, which is just an hour away. Blackpool North train station has a direct connection to London Euston. In fact, you’re just two-and-a-half hours from either London or Edinburgh.

North and West of the Dales, you’ll find the Lake District – England’s largest National Park and a World Heritage Site. Visit Scafell Pike, the deep Wastwater Lake or thriving communities such as Keswick or Bowness-on-Windermere.
