The Trust is looking for a bright and enthusiastic candidate to fill a vacancy in its Orthopaedic Department at a Trust grade, at the Peterborough City Hospital. The post is to start asap for an initial period of 6 months. The successful candidate will take part in the full shift Rota for eight doctors for the Orthopaedic department, only.
The Rota includes a 12 hour shift of days and nights covering acute admissions to the Orthopaedic department shared between the eight junior doctors. Responsibilities will include the assessment and admission of patients through the Accident and Emergency Department and taking part in the post take Trauma meeting and ward round, at 8 a.m. Preparing patients for the operating theatre and instigating essential medical care of patients on the acute Orthopaedic admissions ward. There will also be a shared Rota for the cover of the elective Orthopaedic Ward for routine patient care. You will assist in elective Orthopaedic surgery and gain Orthopaedic experience by attending a weekly Fracture Clinic.
There will be cover over a 24 hour period by senior staff that includes Specialist Trainee Registrars and Consultants.
This post will particularly suit a candidate with an interest in surgery in general, and Orthopaedic surgery in particular. Hence part or full completion of the MRCS is desirable but not essential.
Candidates must have full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practice.
