The Department of Emergency Medicine (ED) provides non-discretionary 24-hour emergency care.

This service provides initial treatment for all, and definitive care for many emergency presentations and the resuscitation and stabilisation of emergencies prior to transfer when required. The service is provided for both adults and children. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for own actions and acts to rectify unsafe nursing practice and/or unprofessional conduct, whilst providing appropriate delegation and supervision of nursing care to other Registered Nurses (RNs), Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Assistants in Nursing (AINs).
  • Contribute to positive patient outcomes by leading the assessment, planning and evaluating of nursing care in collaboration with the patient and/or their family and the health care team.
  • Actively participate in activities to achieve unit performance indicators and meet relevant standards.
  • Actively promote a learning environment by supporting colleagues; fulfilling portfolio responsibilities and participating in Performance and Development Plans (PDP).

Salary rates: $33.93 - $43.53 p.h. (Nurse Grade 5) (permanent part time and full time positions). Applications will remain current for the duration of the vacancy.
