Purpose of the role:

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for the delivery of an advanced level of nursing practice to the client in the General Ward and Emergency/OPD Department.

The Clinical Nurse provides direction and support to other nursing staff while promoting professional standards of practice and conduct, and is responsible for achievement of unit goals and standards. The Clinical Nurse provides a high level of clinical support to the Nurse Unit Manager.

This Position carries delegated authority as defined by the Director of Nursing or Nurse Unit Manager.

There is an expectation that the Clinical Nurse will work occasional on call to support the Birthing Services and clinical need.

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Current registration or eligibility to register as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia / Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
  • It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated/immune against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B.
