Alberta Health Services, South Zone is currently recruiting for a full-time Anesthesiologist. The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH) is an acute care facility, which also includes sub-acute/restorative care beds serving South East Alberta with a catchment population of ~110,000. MHRH has 246 acute care beds, 30 geriatric beds, 10 ICU beds and 7 NICU bassinets. MHRH is an accredited Level 3 Trauma Centre providing coverage in Pediatrics, Geriatrics, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Urology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery and Cancer services.
The Department of Anesthesia provides 24-hour services to 6 operating theatres with over 7900 surgeries yearly. One anesthesiologist daily provides acute pain services on the units, consult services, anesthesia for psychiatric electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), supports ICU, EM, OB/GYN, ENT, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology and Orthopedics. Also covers Labour & Delivery suite which sees over 1200 deliveries and 350 Cesarean sections yearly.Additional Notes About Medicine Hat

Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Incentives
Several benefits are available to physicians through the AMA. To receive these benefits, physicians must be members of the AMA or pay a non-member administration fee. The benefits include:
Retention Benefit - supports and promotes the retention of physicians in Alberta by rewarding their continuous years of service to Albertans. Physicians receive between $4,840 and $12,100 depending on their years of service to Albertans.
Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.
Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,500 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.
