The role 

As a member of the Cancer Screening Unit, you will support the delivery of the BreastScreen Queensland program and projects, including the provision of nursing expertise and advice to support the achievement of State and Commonwealth Government preventive health priorities and targets.

Key accountabilities examples:

  • Advise on and undertake strategic nursing workforce initiatives including oversight of the BSQ Clinical Nurse Counsellor Education Program and conducting assessments.
  • Lead various quality assurance and practice improvement activities related to nursing in accordance with agreed state and national cancer screening standards, policies and protocols.
  • Prepare complex written documents and other information including reports, guidelines, procedures and plans.
  • Work collaboratively with and provide timely expert nursing advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in relevant local, state and national governance fora, as requested.
  • Contribute to strategic and operational planning for the Cancer Screening Unit including statewide innovative initiatives.

The successful person

  • Demonstrated specialist knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and its application in the Breast Screen Queensland program.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and undertake quality improvement and assurance activities and projects including the ability to analyse and problem solve.
  • Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present high quality documents and the ability to initiate and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as a team member to prioritise work and achieve outcomes and contribute to strategic and operational plans.

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council.  Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the employing service prior to the commencement of duty.
