Applications are invited to apply for the post(s) of Senior Fellow in Spinal Surgery, based at the Wessex Neurological Centre, University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust. The senior fellow post is aimed to provide additional Complex Spinal experience for applicants who have recently completed their training or experienced neurosurgical trainees.
The Wessex Spinal Service is based at Southampton General Hospital. There are 12 full/part time spinal Consultants (7 Neurosurgeons and 5 Orthopaedic). All aspects of spinal surgery are practised, including paediatric spine, spinal tumours and scoliosis correction.
The successful applicant will have opportunities to experience all aspects of the spinal service. This includes attendance at the daily handover and Trauma meetings, regular spinal MDT and intradural tumour MDT, ward management of both adult and paediatric patients, multidisciplinary clinics and the opportunity to participate in research and audit.
The successful applicant will participate in the general neurosurgical on-call rota.
Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists) which will be published and available at time of offers.
Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay)
Basic Salary - MT04 £47,132
Please note that GMC registration (with a licence to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role. Successful applicants will already have GMC registration or will be able to demonstrate they are eligible. Applicants requiring Tier 2 sponsorship should ensure they meet the Home Office application criteria prior to submitting an application.
