About the role
The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse who is recognised as an expert level practitioner with advanced level knowledge and expertise in translating clinical skills, knowledge and evidence into nursing capability in the care of patients/clients. This role recognises, supports and achieves effective nursing education through the application of the WMH nursing education framework based on contemporary adult learning principles within the Peri-operative environment. The Nurse Educator – Peri-operative Department works within the WMH nursing education framework to deliver the design, implementation and assessment / evaluation of evidence based nursing orientation and clinical skills programs.
The Nurse Educator – Peri-operative Department also manages and develops relevant clinical educational resources, by providing contemporary clinical expertise relating to the orientation and professional development of nursing staff. This role will demonstrate expertise and leadership skills within the wider nursing education service which includes knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and will support the integration and application of all relevant Health Service, Queensland Health and State-wide legislation, guidelines and standards.
All surgical procedures are performed at Ipswich Hospital, the complex contains 7 theatres, performing General, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Colo-rectal, Plastics, Maxo-facial, Ophthalmology and Maternity Surgery. This vibrant environment manages over 10,000 elective and emergency surgeries per year with highly skilled clinical staff.
