Alberta Health Services and the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, invites applications for a General Surgeon with Colorectal subspecialty training. The successful applicant will be based primarily at the University of Alberta Hospital.
The successful applicant will have a job description which includes a commitment to clinical care delivery, education and research. The successful candidate will care for surgical inpatients and outpatients, and participate in an on-call rotation supporting the University of Alberta Hospital and the entire Edmonton ZoneQualifications:
Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in General Surgery and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. This individual must have obtained the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Fellowship in General Surgery or equivalent as well as a Colorectal Surgery Fellowship. Special consideration will be given to applicants with advanced MIS and IBD experience.

The General Surgery program presently consists of 54 General Surgeons and provides service to the City of Edmonton and surrounding communities. We provide specialized care in all aspects of General Surgery including hepatobiliary surgery and transplantation, general surgical oncology, head and neck surgery, endocrine surgery, trauma, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, upper GI surgery, bariatric surgery, breast surgery, and minimally invasive surgery.
The recruit would be joining a busy Colorectal and General Surgery Acute Care practice. The position includes elective operative time, acute care surgery call coverage and excellent access to endoscopy.
This individual will take part in the undergraduate and post-graduate surgery curricula at the University of Alberta. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic appointment in the Department of Surgery, University of Alberta. This will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.Compensation:
