An opportunity exists for a Radiation Oncology one year term locum tenens position, effective immediately at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) in Red Deer, Alberta.
The successful applicant will become a member of a multidisciplinary cancer program located at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) site in Red Deer, Alberta, and will join a team of Medical and Radiation Oncologists, Hematologists, Nurse Practitioners and medical support staff working in the Central Zone.
The CACC in Red Deer is one of four Regional Cancer Centres within CancerControl Alberta’s Community Oncology portfolio. Serving Central and Northern Alberta, the centre delivers a wide range of state of the art treatment and care to cancer patients including outpatient chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and access to clinical trials, education and psychosocial support. Cancer care practice at the CACC is centered around 7 major tumor groups with rarer tumors managed in conjunction with consultation and expertise from the tertiary centers in Calgary and Edmonton.
The CACC operates within a provincial framework for cancer care supported by provincial clinical guidelines and standards, focused on patient centered care. Radiation Oncologists are expected to participate in local and provincial tumour team based activities including clinical case reviews at tumour board rounds, annual, provincial tumor team meetings, local quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives and educational programs and are supported by a network of Radiation and Medical Oncologists province wide.
Red Deer is a city of 92,000 people located near the midpoint of the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor and surrounded by the rolling hills of the aspen parkland. It is a centre for oil and agriculture distribution, and the surrounding region is a major centre for petrochemical production.
This picturesque, family oriented community boasts 80 kilometres of multi-use trails that permit biking, rollerblading, horseback riding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and, walking. The nearby Canyon ski resort is a favorite of snow boarders and down hill skiers alike. Other attractions include the Enmax Centrium which hosts concerts, hockey, basketball, motor sports, ice shows, major curling events, circuses, boxing, rodeos, wrestling, trade shows and conventions. Red Deer is also home to a wide variety of cultural groups including the Central Alberta Theatre, Ignition Theatre and Central Music Festival.Qualifications:
The successful applicant will be expected to deliver excellent patient care and must be eligible for licensure in Alberta and must have obtained Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada by the time of appointment.Compensation:
