York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides acute hospital services for approximately 800,000 people living in and around York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale – an area covering 3,400 square miles. We manage ten hospital sites, 1,127 beds (including day case beds) and have a workforce of over 8,500 staff working across our hospitals and in the community.
The York Hospital is the Trust’s largest hospital and offers a range of inpatient and outpatient services. With our two community rehabilitation hospitals at St Helen’s and White Cross Court we have over 700 beds.
Scarborough Hospital is the Trust's second largest hospital. It has an Accident and Emergency department and provides acute medical and surgical services, including trauma, intensive care and cardiothoracic services to the population and visitors to the North East Yorkshire Coast.
We provide specialist services from other sites and work collaboratively in certain specialties through our clinical alliance with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, we are also working closely with Hull Teaching Hospital NHS to strengthen the delivery of services across North and East Yorkshire.
This post holder will join teams of 4 Endocrinologists and will be based at York Hospital. A full range of inpatient and outpatient services are provided at this site. The post holder will carry out the duties of duty endocrinologist 1 week in 3 (pro rata) and will also participate in the General Medicine on call rota at the site. York Hospital provides a full range of diabetes and endocrinology outpatient clinics including pump clinics, a MDT foot clinic, young adult services and joint clinics with antenatal and renal services.
The Acute Medicine floor includes a 60 bedded inpatient area, an assessment area open daily and ambulatory care services. Additionally the Trust is working towards the development of a High Observation area within this area.

Candidates must have a higher medical qualification (MRCP or equivalent), have entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview date), CESR or European Community Rights.
What happens after I apply ?
If shortlisted, we will invite you to an Assessment Centre, where we will ask you to participate in 2 activities. The activities may consist of a hand written exercise, or a group activity / single activity where you may need to present to a board panel. All details will be provided on the day and there is no preparation required in advance. The Assessment Centre will be based in York and usually lasts no more than 3 hours. Full details will be provided to you if you are shortlisted to attend. If you are successful at our Assessment Centre, you will be invited to an interview.
