The Role

This hospital is a 114 bed level 4 regional referral facility hospital providing a range of acute specialist services (resident & visiting) including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatric Medicine, Oncology, Haematology, Obstetrics, Intensive Care, Respiratory Medicine, Endocrinology, Neurology, Rehabilitation Medicine Renal Dialysis and Rheumatology. There are a range of diagnostic services including Pathology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, MRI, General X-Ray and Mammography. Other Allied Health Services include Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Pharmacy, Social Worker and Aboriginal Health. Support services to the clinical service delivery units at the Hospital include pathology, sterilising, transport, maintenance and hotel services. Staff at the Hospital are skilled health professionals who aim to provide the community with a high standard of health care. Ongoing education is actively encouraged and supported. Opportunities that are available to staff include secondments within and outside the facility, acting in higher positions and active succession planning.

The department

Each year there are over 19,500 emergency presentations and 600 births per year at this Hospital. The Hospital provides and a 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) with 15 ED spaces. The ED is supported by an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and also equipped with telehealth cameras to connect the team with specialists across the NSW Critical Care Advisory Service.

Building and planning has commenced for the Hospital Redevelopment, NSW State Government has approved $200 million not including the $35 million already completed for Phase One.

 Essential Selection Criteria

• MBBS obtained in Australia or comparable; UK, Ireland, Canada, USA
• Your full specialist training in the UK, USA, Canada or Ireland as an Emergency Physician
• Have had your specialist training assessed and have been found to be comparable to an Australian Fellow.
