Alberta Health Services, Department of Addictions & Mental Health in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Psychiatry, is inviting applications from psychiatrists with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Addictions, preferably with subspecialty certification.
Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education and speech and language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.4 million people in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
The part time 0.5 FTE psychiatry role will provide consultation and follow up to youth with dual diagnosis mental health and addictions issues at Youth Addictions Services Edmonton (YASE). YASE’s multidisciplinary team includes a psychologist, a family counsellor, and addiction counselors. The addiction counselors work out of YASE or are mobile, and provide services to youth in schools and other youth programs. Leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with team members and management are an asset. The psychiatrist will work mainly at the YASE outpatient clinic.
An interest in education of residents and students is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta.
Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and preferably have subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. S/he must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Remuneration is fee-for-service, supplemented by sessional payments to cover administrative activities.
