Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is inviting applications from
Psychiatrists with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferably with subspecialty training, to take on the role of Psychiatrist in the new Gender Program of the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) in the Department of Addictions and Mental Health. Our multidisciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, dietetics, education, and with access to speech and language pathology providing education and assistance for more than 1.2 million people in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

This full time position provides specialist Gender Psychiatry care to the gender diverse and trans - identified population who are 18 years old and under. The recruited psychiatrist will work within the Gender Program. Transitional services for the youth-to-adult population. The psychiatrist will offer assessments of Gender Dysphoria as well as psychiatric care for the gender diverse and transidentified population who are 18 years old and under.An interest in education of residents and students is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for an Academic Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta.


Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and preferably have subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. S/he must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.


Remuneration is fee-for-service, supplemented by sessional payments to cover administrative activities.
