Adult Psychiatrist ––Community Mental Health Clinics –
Edmonton Zone – Full Time
Alberta Health Services in collaboration with the University of Alberta, and the Department of Psychiatry is inviting applications for a General Adult Psychiatrist with an interest in a community focused practice. We presently have a position for a full time community based General Adult Psychiatrist.
The position will entail providing consultation services for clients in the Edmonton Adult Mental Health Clinic primarily at the 108 Street and sub-urban clinic locations. It is a requirement for this position that the successful applicant participate in the community on-call program which will provide 24/7 psychiatric coverage for the 24/7 Access clinic.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in weekly team meetings and provide support to team clinicians as required including in the community. There will be opportunities to work in collaboration with other psychiatrists and inter-disciplinary team members.
It is also the expectation of this position that the successful applicant will participate in quality improvement initiatives within the program. Clinics are staffed by multi-disciplinary teams and the physician as part of the team will participate in clinical improvement initiatives as well as provide clinical leadership for members of the team.
Successful candidates will be expected to be actively involved in resident training, including seeking a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment within the Department of Psychiatry, which will be considered a separate process via the University of Alberta.
The successful candidates must have or be eligible for specialist licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Preferred candidates will have completed advanced training in General Adult Psychiatry or have a General Adult Psychiatry background, and must have specialist qualifications, such as FRCPC or equivalent.
Candidates with an interest in working as part of an interdisciplinary team, enthusiasm with teaching and experience in leadership roles are preferred.
Remuneration is based on a fee-for service basis as well as sessional payments to cover travel time to client homes and non-billable activities.
