About this opportunity:

Programmed Health Professionals have an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for something a little different in the aged care sector.

Our client is seeking Registered Nurses for 6 month casual placements (potential for extension), 38 hours a week, Monday to Friday. The roles are APS6 level banding.

The Clinical Unit RN's work in small supportive teams across Australia, and are responsible to a Regional Manager. These roles will be based at the operational offices in Melbourne.


The Clinical Unit offers specialised internal training, with a well-developed orientation programme, to support the right people to excel in this role.

This position will start ASAP for the right candidate.

What you will be doing:

A Clinical Unit Registered Nurse holds professional registration with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and provides complex clinical advice.

Clinical advice is the provision of an opinion or guidance about clinical matters including the appropriateness of clinical care and/or clinical services provided to recipients of Commonwealth funded aged care services. The Clinical Unit Registered Nurse will work closely with Clinical Advisors in the Clinical Unit to ensure their advice is clear, contemporary, evidence-based and nationally consistent.

Clinical Unit Registered Nurses provide written advice on issues of a clinical nature related to care provided by approved providers of Commonwealth funded home-based and residential aged care services under the Aged Care Act 1997. This support and written advice is provided to Complaints Officers in the Complaints Resolution Operations Group.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Analyse and interpret clinically complex, sensitive and sometimes conflicting clinical documentation to form reasoned judgements regarding the clinical care and/or clinical services provided to persons receiving aged care.
  • Write reports summarising the analysis and reasoned clinical decision making and judgements that align with contemporary evidence based practice.
  • High level report writing that demonstrates logical and reasoned order of information with the correct language, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Prioritise your work load and manage competing priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Rights to work in Australia
  • Must hold an Australian citizenship
