About the Role

The Clinical Nurse - Clinical Facilitator role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic and Urology patients/residents/clients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. This role works autonomously within the healthcare team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic and Urology specialist nursing care. The CF provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research. The role supports in management activities including portfolio responsibilities.

The Nursing Practice Development Unit (NPDU) offers both strategic and operational professional development services and programs for all levels of nursing.  NPDU supports the development of nursing through education, research and clinical programs.  The unit aims to link evidence-based practice with clinical knowledge to support staff to provide quality patient care.  NPDU maintain strong links with various universities and strive to provide high standards of education and research. 

QEII Jubilee Hospital is a 181-bed hospital with specialties of General Surgery, General Medicine/Cardiology/Telemetry and Palliative Care, Orthopaedic, Urology/Gynaecology, and Acute Stroke/Rehabilitation, Endoscopy and Emergency Medicine. There is a 5 bed Intensive Care Unit. QEII provides a high-quality patient care service utilising a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary approach that promotes continuity of care and facilitates a seamless transition from hospital to home.  QEII Jubilee Hospital is a designated Pathway to Excellence Program facility.
