Responsibilities/Duties:

The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology in partnership with Alberta Health Services invites applications for a Movement Disorders Neurologist to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.

The Division of Neurology is an internationally recognized team of Neurological specialists in Stroke, Neuromuscular Disease, MS, Movement Disorders, Epilepsy, ALS and Cognitive Disorders with over 30 academic neurologists and 25 full time clinical members. The Division is closely aligned to the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute, University of Alberta and is housed with the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Neurology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and a background in fellowship training Movement Disorders.

Individuals with a strong interest in research and interested in the education of trainees are encouraged to apply.

Key accountabilities of the Movement Disorders Neurologist will include, but will not be limited to the Program Director, Movement Disorders, Divisional Director, Neurology and the Department Chair, Medicine.

The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Compensation:

Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Medicine & Health Services Program (AMHSP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
