About the role

The Nursing Director - Medicine provides high level strategic and operational leadership and is a key member of the divisional leadership team for Ipswich Hospital. This role leads the nursing profession within the Medicine Division, managing the achievement of clinical quality practice standards and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care aligned with West Moreton's strategic direction.

Working within a partnership model and as a key member of the interprofessional team, the Nursing Director is responsible for shaping patient centred, safe service delivery by leading service quality and improvement activities for nursing. This role will work closely with colleagues across the Divisions of Ipswich Hospital, Rural and Community and Mental Health & Specialised Services to optimise resources, share innovation and to ensure consistent clinical practices across the Health Service.

About You

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated high level knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and capacity in leadership skills and management practices to engage and motivate stakeholders to achieve quality patient outcomes and productivity targets.
  • Demonstrated commitment to outcome-driven performance and organisational achievement.
  • Demonstrated proficiency to work effectively within a leadership team to meet the demands of complex healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills, ability to consult, negotiate, and liaise effectively with (internal and external) key stakeholders, patients, their families and/or carers.
  • Demonstrated advanced capability in leadership, human, financial and resource management including contemporary professional standards and policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate quality and patient focused outcomes and report against key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide patient and staff timely information and education both within and across systems, to promote optimal outcomes while delivering patient centred care.
