About the Role

West Moreton Health Service is currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join Esk Health Service, providing contemporary, evidence-based nursing services and demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by achievement of the standards of practice and registration requirements from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This is evidenced by educational preparation, continuing professional development, adhering to relevant legislation and the context of care.

 About You

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Contemporary clinical knowledge in the area of rural and emergency nursing, delivering competent nursing care in complex situations while providing support to other team members. 
  • Ability to educate, inform, counsel and support patients and families on general and clinical information relevant to patient's care, accessing the Clinical Nurse when expert advice is required.
  • Ability to provide patient and family centred care to the patient using best practice and within the standard of practice of a Registered Nurse.  
  • Ability to communicate to a high standard effectively and engage with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors whilst displaying a high level of professional nursing care.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and contribution to quality improvement processes.  

 About the Unit

The Esk Health Service operates a seven day service, 24 hours.

Esk Health Service is a funded 10 bed facility with 2 emergency department beds also, providing health care to an area of approximately 4000km2 within the Somerset Region. The organisation provides a range of services including Emergency, Medical, Post-Operative, Interim Care, Transitional Care, Palliative Care, Physiotherapy and Rural Adult Community Health.

Several other services such as Child Health, Podiatry, Hearing Services, Drug & Alcohol and Integrated Mental Health, both Adult, Child and Adolescent, visit on a regular basis. The provision of these services is supported by specialist and Allied Health staff from other areas of West Moreton Hospital and Health Service. Other services such as Paediatric Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists can be accessed on a needs basis.

Vaccination Preventable Disease
This role is designated as ‘Vaccination Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role'. You must be able to provide evidence that you either:

  •  have been vaccinated against the VPD's listed in the role description; or
  • you are not susceptible to the VPD's listed in the role description.
