An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen within Cancer Care. We are looking for an experienced advanced nurse practitioner (ANP) to work as our Lead ANP. Alongside clinical expertise the ideal candidate will have a passion for clinical role modelling, education and experience of leading (or significant involvement) in the transformation of services. .

The Lead ANP will be responsible for the management of the Cancer Care Advanced Nurse Practitioners covering Acute Oncology Service, Heamatology, Medical Oncology and Clinical Oncology.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Macmillan Acute Oncology Service is an award winning, progressive nurse-led unit that provides patients with the best care and support while undergoing their cancer treatment. A six trolley assessment area provides space for those who require urgent assessment following telephone triage 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.

Cancer care consists of five inpatient wards (95 beds), covering medical and clinical oncology, haematology and blood and marrow transplantation, palliative care and a teenage and young adult unit. There are is also a SACT (Systemic Anti Cancer Therapies) day case centre known as CHOC (Combined Haematology Oncology Centre).

The cancer centre at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) provides a range of specialist services to the Wessex region and the Channel Islands, to a population of approximately 3.5 million

WHAT YOU'LL DO

On a day to day basis, you will be leading the care group advanced practice service that ranges from MAOS which receives, treats and assesses patients acutely unwell from their home environment, through to our specialist service to C6 (specialising in bone marrow transplantation) . You will work clinically role modelling clerking advanced nurse practice.

You will supervise educational needs of the trainee ANPs and ANPs, identifying skills gaps and supporting and empowering education and self-directed learning.

You will be responsible for service innovation and recruitment.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • You will hold Pg Cert / MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (ANP / ACP)

  • Mentorship / Teaching and assessing in practice qualification

  • Independent Non Medical Prescribing qualification

  • A highly motivated leader with ability to inspire and advocate for advanced practice within the Care Group

Getting to Work

Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes.  This will be based on specific criteria to determine eligibility for site parking as this can be very limited.  UHS encourages staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible.   UHS is well connected through bus services to the city centre and other areas.
