About the Role

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is accountable at an advanced practice level for leading and coordinating the Neurosciences Unit to achieve best practice standards for clinical practice, patient centred care within a Healthcare team and is responsible for the provision of effective and efficient human, material and financial resource management.

Ward 2C is located on the 2nd floor of Building 1 within the Princess Alexandra Hospital complex. It is located in South Brisbane and is a part of the Metro South Hospital Health Service.  Along with the hospital's local catchment area for the South and West metro areas of Brisbane, we offer a state-wide specialist service. The current role delineation of the service is that of a Category 1 tertiary referral service for the Metro South districts and other boundaries as mentioned above.

Ward 2C provides service to the following client base:

  • Neurosurgery and Neurology

Functions of the service include:

  • Pre- and post-operative care of Neurosurgical patients including but not limited to malignancies, trauma and acute haemorrhages.
  • Management of a range of Neurological conditions including but not limited to Neurological diseases, infections and seizures.
