About the Role
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is accountable at an advanced practice level for leading and coordinating the Day Surgery and Treatment Unit to achieve best practice standards for clinical practice, patient centred care within a Healthcare team and is responsible for the provision of effective and efficient human, material and financial resource management.
The Day Surgery and Treatment Unit (DSTU) ensure patients requiring elective day surgery and procedures are provided high quality care in the clinically recommended time frames.
The DSTU provides access to two (2) operating theatres where operative and respiratory procedures are performed on appropriately identified ambulatory patients.
Medical services include infusions, complex endocrine testing; paracentesis and lumbar punctures. Other areas within the Unit include: Stage 1 and 2 recovery (3 and 7 bays), Stage 3 recovery (9 bays and 16 chairs), and a Treatment Room.
Radiology pre-procedural and post procedural care is provided to patients undergoing radiology procedures including angiograms; angioplasties; lung, liver and renal biopsies; IVC filter retrievals. We accommodate 3-day case patients and prepare one pre-procedure overnight admission as required.
