University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is looking for experienced Band 2 Health Care Assistants who have been working at UHS for six months or more to support the on-going Covid-19 testing programme to help ensure we can provide the safest care for both our staff and patients moving forward and help to manage the Covid-19 disease across the Trust and community.

This role will be based either within the UHS site, at Adanac park or with a requirement to travel within the community providing tests to those that are unable to get to a specific testing site.  You will be expected to work across a seven day rota, there will be no night shifts but long days may be required.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You will be working in a team that consists of qualified and unqualified staff working across UHS, Adanac park and out in the community.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As  part of the Covid hub, you will be required to:

  • Meet and greet patients and staff that require testing, ensuring you have checked their personal details against the information provided and adhered to all trust data protection policies and procedures

  • Using the safety equipment and PPE provided ensure all tests are carried out effectively

  • Make sure test are appropriately sealed and labelled sending them in accordance to Trust guidance in a timely manner

  • Follow all infection control protocols ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues and patients at all times

We are looking for experienced HCA’s who would be willing to support the testing hubs on a rota basis and who are confident to carry out the swab testing process.

Getting to Work

Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes.  This will be based on specific criteria to determine eligibility for site parking as this can be very limited.  UHS encourages staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible.   UHS is well connected through bus services to the city centre and other areas.
