This position will be located primarily at the Misericordia Community Hospital and will consist of Emergency Department duties and geriatric outpatient work along with fracture liaison and orthogeriatric services. The position will also include development and refinement of the service. Participation in Departmental Committees is required.

The Specialized Geriatric Services Program (SGS – Clinical Alternative Relationship Plan), in partnership with Covenant Health and Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Geriatrician / Care of the Elderly Physician to join the Division of Geriatric Medicine / Care of the Elderly located in Edmonton, Alberta.

Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Certification in General (Internal) Medicine/Geriatric Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or certification in Family Medicine/Care of the Elderly from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) is required.

This individual will take part in the teaching of undergraduate and post-graduate learners; therefore, the successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta.

This position will not support a practice readiness assessment.


Remuneration is competitive and based on a Clinical Alternate Relationship Plan.
