Innisfail is situated one hour south of Cairns on the North and South Johnstone Rivers, and is surrounded by the tropical landscape of Far North Queensland. Lush sugar plantations flow from the dense rainforest coastline to the Palmerston National Park. Tea, bananas, pawpaws and other exotic tropical fruits are also grown within the area. Alternatively, the Atherton Tablelands are situated approximately 1200m above sea level on a plateau atop the Great Dividing Range about 100kms south-west of Cairns in Far North Queensland. Amidst fields of maize, peanuts, macadamia nuts, sugar cane and tropical fruits, the tablelands share the rainforest landscape with cattle grazing on verdant pastures.

 Salary commencing from $94 545 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6(1)), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (up to 17.5%) (Applications will remain current for 12 months). Job Ad Reference: CAH348813

Purpose of the Role

The Clinical Nurse is required to deliver direct nursing care at an advanced level, to people requiring mental health care in a community setting. As part of the Cassowary Area Mental Health Service team, you will be providing mental health intake/triage, assessment, short term and long term community base case management to people with a range of mental health conditions.
