About the Lavender Mother and Baby Unit

The Lavender Mother and Baby Unit is a specialised state-wide acute mental health inpatient unit and has four adult beds and four infant boarder beds. The latter may occasionally increase if a mother has twins/triplets. The aim of the service is to deliver safe and responsive specialist mental health care for a mother with severe mental illness without the need to separate women from their infant(s). This scope enables women to be admitted with their infant(s) (under 12 months old at time of admission). The Unit provides comprehensive perinatal and infant mental health assessment and treatment for mothers exhibiting signs/symptoms of serious mental illness in the moderate to severe spectrum that have not responded adequately to less intensive interventions in the community, and/or safety and treatment need of the dyad warrant admission.

GCH is committed to attracting the right people for our organisation. To help us with this we have developed a Core Capability Framework ( http://gchweb.sth.health.qld.gov.au/people-and-corporate-services/human-resource-services/organisation-capability/core-capability-framework.html ) which defines the skills and behaviours required to perform successfully as an organisation.
