About the role

The Clinical Nurse (Mental Health Clinician) collaborates with others to provide clinical leadership by offering advice on assessment, treatment options and risk management as required. Providing a comprehensive and flexible mental health service to consumers including where appropriate, their families or carers. This includes assessment, planning and intervention within the context of a multidisciplinary environment. These services include the use of core discipline assessment skills, diagnostic and formulation skills, therapy, treatment planning and case management/brokerage skills, in accordance with evidence-based practice.

About You

Our ideal candidate will be someone who demonstrates the following:

  • Clinical skills in the area of acute mental health nursing.
  • Knowledge of and skills in contemporary therapeutic approaches for mental health consumers.
  • Strong communication skills, providing clients, families and stakeholders with a professional and flexible service that meets their needs.
  • Ability to assist and understand the needs of other team members and communicate with all team members appropriately.  This is inclusive of the demonstrated ability to promote a learning environment within the team and contribute to the learning of others through a willingness to share information with others.
  • Effective self-management skills in relation to strong time management, documentation, prioritisation and delegation to achieve deadlines.

About West Moreton's Mental Health and Specialised Services Acute Care Team

Acute Care Teams (ACT) function as the first point of contact to community and acute mental health services 24 hours, 7 days a week.  Following assessment, the team facilitates the most appropriate type of care (e.g. inpatient, community, crisis interventions) for the individual.

  • have been vaccinated against the VPD's listed in the role description; or
  • you are not susceptible to the VPD's listed in the role description.
