An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Mental Health Case Management) who will be required to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external providers and organisations. The CNC will be responsible and accountable for the role modelling of consumer focussed, evidence-based nursing care.

This position will be a valued and integral part of the interdisciplinary team delivering high quality nursing care to consumers, their families and carers of the Mental Health & Addiction Service (MHAS) within the SCHHS. The CNC will deliver expert clinical leadership in the provision and coordination of contemporary, person centred care within a clinical specialty in a dynamic health environment, based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's (NMBA) requirements for registration as a nurse.  

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Actively involves consumers, carers and families in all stages of their care, in line with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses Scope of Practice (2013) and Practice Standards (2010). 
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for own actions and the delegation and supervision of nursing care to Registered Midwives (RMs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Assistants in Nursing (AINs).
  • Facilitates linkages and continuity of care by providing mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention programmes, to reduce the stigma associated with mental and addiction illness. Improve the capacity of general hospital teams to respond to bio-psychosocial adversity and emotional distress hospital for MHAS consumers, their families and carers.
  • Ensures appropriate and effective clinical interventions are integrated into existing treatment and recovery plans, maintaining a focus on improving consumer outcomes, inclusive of family and carers.

Remuneration value up to $143,803 p.a., comprising salary between $116,092 - $126,037 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (NRG7).
