The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Registered Nurses (Anaesthetic/Post Anaesthetic Care Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will take responsibility for

  • Demonstrating advanced Clinical skills in specialty area
  • Ability to perform in the roles of Anaesthetics and PACU nurse over a range of specialties
  • Working knowledge and troubleshooting capabilities of associated equipment
  • Monitoring consumable stock levels, restocking and report if low

Requirements for the role

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 with a current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency is essential
  • It is a condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: as required by HR Policy B1 measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B
  • A postgraduate qualification within a relevant specialty is highly desirable

Salary information

  • Permanent full time and permanent part time (hours negotiable)
  • Base salary ranging from $72 471 - $92 954 per annum, $36.55 - $46.88 per hour
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

About Anaesthetic/Post Anaesthetic Care

The Gold Coast, Robina and Varsity Lakes Day Hospital are specialised departments that work closely to provide a high standard of patient centred care, sharing resources and equipment as required to provide the best care possible for our patients. The service also works closely with the Specialty Clinical Care Coordinators to try to meet both the elective and emergency surgery demands of the region.

The Gold Coast University Hospital Anaesthetic/Post Anaesthetic Care Unit provides support both Pre and Post operatively to patients requiring elective and emergency surgical procedures for the Gold Coast district.  There is capacity to run 20 theatres, 2 interventional radiology theatres and an integrated Magnetic resonance imaging service.  A 35 bay Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) is also incorporated into this service with an additional Surgical Admission Unit (SAU) and Day Surgery Unit (DSU) included.  The of these services are to provide an environment that is safe, efficient, cost effective, sustainable and patient-focused for all clients who access any part of these services.
