This 0.1FTE governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports directly to the Edmonton Zone Clinical Department Head for Emergency Medicine and the WCH Facility Medical Director. The successful candidate will assist the Zone Clinical Department Head with quality issues as well as assisting the Facility Medical Director with operational matters.
This position provides input into the development of policies and criteria for procedures as they relate to Emergency Medicine as well as reviewing and recommending privileges for physicians working within the Emergency Department. This position is accountable for, but not limited to, the resolution of physician-related and clinical-operational matters; providing clinical leadership, consultation, support and coaching to the WCH Emergency Physicians, medical staff and allied health staff; monitoring clinical practice and medical staff in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules; and advocating for the provision of overall quality, patient safety, and patient care.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety. S/he will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers. The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal skills, have demonstrated supervisory experience and be an excellent clinician with the respect of his/her peers. The successful candidate also will be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Department of Emergency Medicine.
This position has an expected start date of Nov 1, 2020 and an expected term of 3 years.

The Westview Health Centre is a community hospital in the town of Stony Plain located 17 km west of Edmonton. The Emergency Department provides 24/7 services with onsite lab and DI and sees almost 30,000 patient visits per year. This opportunity is perfect for Emergency Physicians interested in building a foundation that promotes the health and well-being within a community, as part of a larger zone.
Candidates must be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) certified, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. There is a preference for candidates with formal administrative education and training.
Remuneration is in accordance with AHS contractor agreements.
