The registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of quality, cost effective, patient centred nursing care in consultation with other members of the health care team and in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's National competency standards for registered nurse. Assumes individual accountability for actions within the position.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with hospital and community health providers within the Torres Cape Hospital and Health Service and beyond.
  • Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture.

  • Ability to provide high level of nursing and clinical leadership across the multi-disciplinary team that reflects the highest possible standards of relevant legislation and contemporary models of practice which includes quality improvement, nursing research and professional development.

Requirements for the role:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Anaesthetics/Recovery perioperative role and ability to work effectively in an emergency perioperative case. Added skills in Scrub/Scout or CSSD skills desirable.
  • Willing to learn Haemodialysis and work within the Renal Unit as your main working role and additionally assisting the operating theatre when necessary.
  • RIPEN or similar qualification or working towards is highly desirable
